It’s a strange feeling, returning to work after 2 weeks off - and coming back on a Wednesday still feels like a Monday.

An even stranger feeling is coming back to work after being off for two weeks because you have become a parent!

My son, Michael Leslie Orriss, was born at 6:04am on 5th September 2007.

I am full of gratitude to Dan, who was insistent that I took the fortnight’s paternity leave to get to know the new arrival. It was worth every minute.

But now I have to settle back into a “normal” routine, which seems unreal - especially knowing who I will have waiting for me when I get home!
